Volunteer Translator

A number of our services support service users who at times have translation needs. This can be anything from support to complete paperwork and forms, translating the content of meetings or helping them to participate effectively in statutory processes (meetings with the Home Office, Police etc).

Given the nature of our work, it's really important to us that anyone who wishes to support us is aware of the need for a high level of confidentiality but that also at times, the work can be challenging. For example, you could be translating for a service user who is recalling distressing events and/or abuse.

We are looking to build a pool of volunteers who can be called upon on an ad hoc basis (often at short notice!) to support with translation. This could be on the phone or in person.

We are particularly interested in hearing from people who can speak:

• Polish
• Russian
• Mandarin
• Cantonese
• Spanish
• Urdu.
